Wild girl of Le Paradou
The untamed young woman at the heart of La Faute de l'Abbé Mouret. She has grown up alone in the vast overgrown garden of Le Paradou, half-wild and half-mythological. She nurses the amnesiac Serge back to health, falls in love with him in an Edenic idyll, and when he returns to his vows and leaves her, she dies among her flowers — one of the cycle's most beautiful and tragic figures.

Sunburnt, loose-limbed, with flowers always in her hair — a figure who seems to belong to the garden itself rather than to human society.
